The farmer limiteds are an attempt to mainstream the rural faming communities in the changing situation of economic liberalization and market economy of the Country. The failure of cooperative movement and cooperative institutions set up since independence has not rapidly reduced the poverty prevailing in rural India.

The economic growth in our Country moved through the vehicle of industrialization and agriculture and that has been captured by the educated and the urban elites through the medium of companies, stock markets and institutions. Agriculture being our mainstay still the bulk of the farmer producers is living on hands to mouth, poverty and deprivation. 33% of our population earn Rs. 12 /- per day and are classified under Below Poverty Line (BPL). The economic and social development in rural and rainfed areas are low and therefore, AOFG India together with SHGW, FFT Netherland are promoting farmer companies as one of the model for mainstreaming the rural farming communities.

Mr. Meindert Witvliet is the author, votary and supporter of Farmer Limiteds and his support is impacting changes in rural areas of several countries such as Tanzania, India, and Indoneasia. Justice Mr. K. Sukumaran, Retd Justice of Mumbai High Court is the Honorary Legal Advisor of Aofcindia (farmer group companies).

AOFG India is promoting and empowering farming communities to set up “Farmer Limiteds” in the Himalays, North East India, Deccan Plateau and Western Ghats.
